GILLETTE, Wyo. — Scattered rain showers will be possible in Gillette again today with a chance or two at a possible thunderstorm.
The lingering remnants of a system that’s brought some rain the past few days will offer a 20% chance of rain this morning, rising to a 50% chance for thunderstorms this afternoon. Today will be mostly cloudy with a high near 54, according to the National Weather Service in Rapid City, South Dakota. Winds will come from the north at 11–16 mph with gusts of up to 23 mph possible.
Between 9 p.m. and midnight, rain chances fall again to 30%. Skies will remain mostly cloudy as the low falls to around 39. Northwest winds are expected at 9–14 mph with gusts reaching 20 mph.
Friday will start a bit of a drier, warmer spell for Campbell County. Clouds will decrease throughout the day as a high-pressure ridge sags southward into the northern plains. The high will climb to around 60 before falling to an overnight low of 39 under mostly clear skies.
Saturday and Sunday will see clear and sunny skies with highs of 69 and 71, respectively. There’ll be breezes from the south and southwest throughout the day, turning to come from the north overnight.
Next week brings all-new rain and storm chances, along with warmer temperatures than Gillette saw this week. Temperatures will range from a high of 74 on Monday to 65 on Wednesday. Lows will be in the 40s.
