One dead following rescue attempt in Boysen State Park

SHOSHONI, Wyo. — After responding to reports of a person who could not be located after entering the reservoir at Boysen State Park, park rangers and other emergency officials conducted a rescue mission attempt, according to a press release. Responders were able to locate the person, but life-saving measures were unable to revive the individual.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing, with Wyoming State Parks fully cooperating with the Freemont County Coroner’s Office to conclude the investigation. Cause of death or any other details relating to the fatality, including the identity of the individual, have not yet been released by the Freemont County Coroner’s Office.

In a Facebook post announcing the incident, Wyoming State Parks urged the public to take “an abundance of caution” when using recreational areas in Wyoming, especially in bodies of water that may pose unseen risks due to cold temperatures and other risk factors.

Wyoming State Parks also offered its condolences to those impacted by the incident.

“Our hearts go out to all those who have been impacted by this tragic loss,” Wyoming State Parks wrote.
