GILLETTE, Wyo. — A Gillette man was found dead among vehicle wreckage located last night by a Campbell County sheriff’s deputy west of Wyodak, Undersheriff Quentin Reynolds said.
The man was identified as 43-year-old Mark P. Christman, whose body was discovered at 11:27 p.m. on Highway 51 by a patrolling deputy who came upon the unreported wreckage of a gold 1997 Ford F-250, Reynolds said.
Christman was found lying on the south side of the roadway, among the wreckage of a potential single-vehicle rollover, per Reynolds, who said it appeared to the deputy that the 43-year-old man had been deceased for some time.
Reynolds said the Wyoming Highway Patrol was called to investigate the fatal crash. While they waited for troopers to respond, deputies and other emergency personnel searched the surrounding area for other passengers but found none.
There was dog hair and a tennis ball in the vehicle, but deputies did not locate a dog in the immediate vicinity, Reynolds added.
According to Campbell County Coroner Paul Wallem, Christman died at the scene from head and chest trauma.
