It won’t get much better for the city as the day wears on, according to the National Weather Service in Rapid City, South Dakota. There’s a 60% chance for snow all day, although that may mix with rain later this afternoon as the high works its way from 32 degrees at 7 a.m. to 41.
Roads in and around Gillette are wet with snow, according to the Wyoming Department of Transportation.
Snow remains likely, at a 50% chance, through late this evening before tapering off and leaving a mostly cloudy sky. The forecast low is 23.
With cooler air situated over northeast Wyoming, the next few days will be cooler with a slight chance for snow reappearing on Saturday. Thursday will see a high of 41 with mostly sunny skies and winds from the northwest blowing at 16–21 mph and gusting at up to 29 mph. Windchills will be as low as 11. That cooler air will leave a 20% chance for snow Saturday before the high reaches 43. By afternoon, skies should be partly sunny, and they’ll continue clearing into the night while the low works its way down to 27.
Warmth finally returns on Sunday with a high of 60, followed by 58 on Monday and 65 on Tuesday, if the forecast holds up.
