Gillette high temps marching toward 70 as week wears on

GILLETTE, Wyo. — High pressure is building over the region, meaning a warming trend for Gillette that will bring daily temperatures to within a hair of 70 degrees.

Campbell County will see some sunny days this week ahead of possible rain during the weekend. Today will see the mercury climb to around 53 degrees. There’ll be a slight breeze from the west at 8–17 mph with gusts of up to 24 mph possible. Tonight’s skies will continue to be mostly clear as the low falls to around 33 degrees. A 7–17 mph wind from the northwest is expected, with gusts of up to 24 mph possible.

Wednesday will be equally sunny, but quite a bit warmer as the high reaches 63. Skies will remain mostly clear overnight as the low falls to around 38.

A mostly sunny Thursday is in the forecast with a high of 69. Winds will pick up substantially, according to the forecast, as they come from the south at 15–22 mph and gust as high as 32 mph. Winds will pick up further into the night, reaching speeds of 22–30 mph and gusting at up to 44 mph. The forecast low is 43.

From there, Friday will see a high of 69 under partly sunny skies. Winds will continue from the south at 18–25 mph with gusts of up to 38 mph. Rain chances creep back into the forecast on Friday evening. Skies will be mostly cloudy as the low falls to around 41. Winds from the southeast will blow at 18–24 mph with 36 mph gusts possible.

Rain remains likely both Saturday and Sunday as temperatures cool. Saturday’s high is forecast at 56 while Sunday’s is 42.
