GILLETTE, Wyo. — Warmer days are ahead today through Friday, followed by some weekend snow chances in Gillette.

The National Weather Service in Rapid City, South Dakota, says a warm front is passing through the state, pushing today’s high to around 49. Skies will be sunny and there will be a northwest breeze at 7–13 mph with gusts as high as 21 mph. Tonight will see partly cloudy skies and a low near 27.

Thursday will be the warmest day with a forecast high of 60 degrees under mostly sunny skies. It’ll be considerably windier, with winds from the southwest at 10–15 mph increasing to 17–22 mph in the afternoon. Gusts could reach 34 mph, according to the forecast.

Those breezy conditions will persist into Thursday evening as skies become mostly cloudy and the low falls to around 30.

Friday will be cooler at 46 degrees. Skies will be partly sunny as the warm front leaves the area and cooler air filters in. That cooler air will also bring snow chances back to the forecast Friday night. As the low drops to around 28, there’ll be a 30% chance for snow, which will become a 40% chance for snow on a 45-degree Saturday.

Precipitation chances stick around through the weekend, including Saturday night as the low drops to 27. Sunday will warm to 39 before dropping to 22 overnight. Temperatures will then begin marching back toward the 50s for the upcoming work week.
