Campbell County Public Library announces winners in graphic novel character contest

GILLETTE, Wyo. — In partnership with the Library Foundation Inc., the Campbell County Public Library recently held a contest for graphic novel characters for several grade ranges as well as an 18 and above category.

The overall winner was Katheryn Holden and her character, the Chapter Raptor. A turquoise baby dino, the Chapter Raptor is drawn holding a book in his front claws, a bite-sized chomp taken out from the edge of the back cover.

The winners are as follows:

People’s Choice and First Place Grades 4–6

  • Book Boy by Micah Riggle

Grades 1–3

  • First Place: Book of Wonders by Frank Braham
  • Second Place: The Monstro by Hailey Amstadt
  • Third Place: Flutter by Ava Rockwood

Grades 4–6

  • First Place: Book Boy by Micah Riggle
  • Second Place: Fefee by Emma Rockwood
  • Third Place: Jimmy Reader by Kasen Gerster

Grades 7–12

  • First Place: The Book Hogger by Abbie Braham
  • Second Place: Ellie, the “Book Retriever” by Ethan Braham
  • Third Place: CCPL the Cat by Sadie Braham

18+

  • First Place: Libby by JaNae Norman
  • Second Place: The Library Rabbit by Michael Carter
  • Third Place: Dan D. and Wish by Lea Mendinghall
