LARAMIE, Wyo. — For the first time this season and the third time in her collegiate career, the University of Wyoming’s Allyson Fertig has been named the Mountain West Player of the Week. Fertig is the first Cowgirl to receive the honor this season.
Fertig recorded a pair of double-doubles last week in Wyoming’s 2–0 week with wins over San Jose State and Fresno State. She averaged 18.5 points, 10 rebounds, 1.5 blocks and 1.5 steals per game one the week. The junior shot better than 69% from the floor and roughly 91% from the free throw line, making 19 of 21 from the charity stripe.
The week opened with a 13-point, 10-rebound effort from Fertig over San Jose State. In Saturday’s contest against Fresno State, Fertig had 24 points and 10 boards, recording her 12th-career 20-point game.
Fertig and the rest of the Cowgirls close out the regular season Tuesday night with a trip to San Diego State.
