Cool, unsettled weather expected along with potential snow in Gillette

GILLETTE, Wyo. — Cool and unsettled weather is expected today and through the weekend, with warmer conditions Sunday.

The National Weather Service in Rapid City, South Dakota, says today’s high will be near 37 degrees, but windchills will be as low as 17 with a west wind at 5–10 mph. That wind will shift to come from the north this afternoon. Gusts of up to 15 mph will be possible.

There is a 40% chance for snow in Gillette tonight, with the low falling to around 19 degrees. Most of that snowfall is expected after 2 a.m. Skies will be cloudy. With a north wind around 10 mph, windchills will be as low as 11.

Saturday will be mostly cloudy as the high returns to around 30 degrees. Windchills will remain around 13 degrees thanks to a 5 mph north breeze. Some clouds will stick around for Saturday night. The low will fall to around 16. Winds will shift to come from the southwest at 5–10 mph.

Sunday will be mostly sunny and warmer as the mercury gets to 41 degrees. Winds from the west will blow at 10–15 mph with gusts of up to 20 mph. Skies overnight will be mostly cloudy. The low will fall to around 23.

Monday will be the warmest day of the forecast period with a high of 43. That will come with a 20% chance of snow before skies become partly sunny. A slight snow chance remains for Monday night as the low returns to 23.

Tuesday should see partly sunny skies and a high near 40, according to the forecast.
