GILLETTE, Wyo. — A man suspected of stealing a vehicle from outside a storage unit was arrested for felony drug possession and impaired driving the afternoon of Feb. 6, according to Gillette Deputy Police Chief Brent Wasson.
The vehicle — a 2005 Ford pickup — belonged to a 67-year-old man who parked it outside of his storage unit while he was inside working on another vehicle around 5:37 p.m. Feb. 6, Wasson said, adding that the man returned minutes later to find the pickup missing.
Officers located the Ford pickup a short while later eastbound on Warlow Drive and stopped it, identifying a 25-year-old man as the driver. The man displayed signs of recent drug use, per Wasson.
The man was taken into custody for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and a search incident to his arrest yielded three grams of suspected methamphetamine in his pants as well as marijuana, Wasson said, adding that the man allegedly admitted to using meth.
In addition to the unauthorized use charge, officers charged the man with felony drug possession and driving under the influence of a controlled substance.
