GILLETTE, Wyo. — Peabody Energy will announce its fourth-quarter and year-end results for 2023 next month, revealing whether an earlier prediction for a nearly 85-million-ton year in sales from the Powder River Basin has held.
In its third-quarter results report, Peabody Energy stated it had sold 63.6 million tons of Powder River Basin coal and predicted it would sell 21 million tons in its fourth and final quarter for 2023, which would push the year-end total sales to 84.6 million tons, assuming the actual numbers match the prediction.
If the final numbers do match the prediction, Peabody Energy’s fourth-quarter results would be on par for 2023 with the quarterly average for PRB coal sales coming in at just over 21 million tons.
Peabody Energy will announce the final results for 2023 on Thursday, Feb. 8, according to a Jan. 18 release.
