Winds, snow chances kick off roller coaster weather week in Gillette

GILLETTE, Wyo. — This week’s forecast will offer a little bit of everything.

The National Weather Service in Rapid City, South Dakota, has forecast a 40% chance of snow through about 10 a.m. in Gillette. Skies will be cloudy, but gradually become mostly sunny. The temperature should rise to around 42 by 11 a.m., and then fall off to about 35 for the rest of the day. It’ll be a breezy Monday with a northwest wind of 13–18 mph increasing to 20–25 mph this afternoon. Gusts could reach as high as 39 mph.

Tonight’s forecast calls for partly cloudy skies and a low near 28.

Upper-high pressure will shift east early this week, boosting temperatures on Tuesday and Wednesday into the 50s. The forecast calls for clearing skies Tuesday as the high gets to 53. Winds will come from the southwest at 11–14 mph. Tuesday night will be partly cloudy with a low near 35.

Wednesday will be even warmer under mostly sunny skies. Expect a high near 58 as southwest winds continue at 11–15 mph. Wednesday night’s sky should be partly cloudy as the low falls to around 38. Breezy conditions are expected as those southwest winds pick up to 20–25 mph and gusts reach 43 mph.

Ahead of another cool front bringing another shot at snow this week, Thursday will be mostly sunny with a high near 50. Overnight, there will be a slight chance for snow under mostly cloudy skies. Thursday’s low is forecast at 26.

Friday will see a continued chance for snow. The sky should become partly sunny, and the high will be near 38. Snow chances continue into Friday night under mostly cloudy skies. The forecast low is 21.
