GILLETTE, Wyo. — Here is a summary of notable crimes that occurred in and around Gillette yesterday, Nov. 27, obtained through law enforcement reports compiled by the Gillette Police Department and the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office.
Fight, Nov. 27, West Boxelder Road, CCSO
Deputies responded to the Campbell County Detention Center to investigate a report of two male inmates fighting over peanut butter around 6:53 a.m., Undersheriff Quentin Reynolds said. The inmates — a 27-year-old man and a 46-year-old man — sustained facial injuries during the altercation, but both refused to press charges against the other. No citations were issued, though there will be jail sanctions imposed.
Theft, Nov. 27, Constitution Drive, GPD
A 25-year-old man on Constitution Drive called the police around 10:55 a.m. to report $500 in tools missing from his 2017 Ford pickup, Gillette Deputy Police Chief Brent Wasson said. The tools were taken sometime between Nov. 26 and Nov. 27. The investigation is ongoing.
Crash, Nov. 27, Highway 59, GPD
Officers responded to Highway 59 after a 16-year-old boy in a 2014 Jeep crashed into a blue pickup around 12:16 p.m., Wasson said. The blue pickup had stopped in front of the 16-year-old boy without him noticing and left the scene before officers arrived. The boy was not injured and the crash caused over $1,000 in damages.
Death, Nov. 27, T-7 Road, CCSO
Deputies and emergency personnel responded to an area approximately a quarter-mile away from T-7 Road after mining personnel found a 65-year-old man unresponsive in a 2018 Jeep Wrangler around 7 p.m. The man reportedly suffered a medical emergency. Mine personnel performed CPR until Emergency Medical Services arrived and transported the man to Campbell County Health, where he was ultimately pronounced deceased.
DWUI, Nov. 27, Gurley Avenue, GPD
A 40-year-old woman was arrested for impaired driving after officers reportedly saw her crash a Buick into a black Cadillac in the area of Gurley Avenue and Warlow Drive around 8:07 p.m., Wasson said. The woman left the scene of the crash northbound on Gurley Avenue before being stopped by officers. She displayed signs of intoxication and declined field sobriety tests. She was taken into custody for DWUI and improper lookout.
