RENO, Nev. — For the second straight week, the Wyoming Cowboys enjoyed a fast start. This time, the team used that momentum to easily handle the University of Nevada and cruise to the Pokes’ eighth win of the season.

With the regular season now in the books, UW sits at 8–4 overall and 5–3 in conference play. The Cowboys now await a bowl invitation for the sixth time in the past eight years, and the third consecutive. This also marks the first time Wyoming has made bowl game appearances in three straight seasons.

Nevada finished its 2023 season 2–10 overall and 2–6 in the Mountain West.

Wyoming enjoyed a balanced attack in Saturday night’s win, generating 409 yards of total offense with 244 rushing yards and 165 passing yards.

Three of the team’s touchdowns came on the ground while two came through the air, and the team added a defensive touchdown as well.

Cowboy quarterback Andrew Peasley entered Saturday’s game as the Mountain West’s leader in points responsible for, and added to his conference-leading total by accounting for four of Wyoming’s TDs, throwing two and running two more himself.

Wyoming free safety Wyett Ekeler returned a 38-yard interception for a pick six in the second quarter. It was Ekeler’s second interception of the season.

The UW defense also recorded a season-high six sacks, led by defensive end Sabastian Harsh, who had a pair of sacks and led Wyoming in tackles with six.

“There was no doubt that they played extremely well. We felt like we had an advantage there but we needed to come in and play on point and that’s something at times we’ve not done on the road,” head coach Craig Bohl said.
