GILLETTE, Wyo. — Here is a summary of notable crimes that occurred in and around Gillette yesterday, Nov. 21, obtained through law enforcement reports compiled by the Gillette Police Department and the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office.
Crash, Nov. 21, Highway 59, GPD
Officers responded to Highway 59 and Sinclair Street around 6:07 a.m. to investigate a crash between a vehicle and a deer, Gillette Deputy Police Chief Brent Wasson said. A 68-year-old woman was northbound on Highway 59 when a deer ran out in front of her, resulting in over $1,000 in damages.
Drugs, Nov. 21, South Garner Lake Road, GPD
A baggie with suspected methamphetamine residue was uncovered during a home search on South Garner Lake Road around 9:19 a.m., Wasson said. Officers searched the home at the request of the Probation and Parole Office. The residue tested presumptive positive, and a report was taken at the request of probation and parole.
Probation violation, Nov. 21, Nepstad Drive, CCSO
A 50-year-old woman was arrested for violating the terms of her probation on Nepstad Drive after she was found intoxicated by a deputy investigating a potential domestic incident, Undersheriff Quentin Reynolds said. The woman had been contacted earlier in the day but her claims of being attacked by her 63-year-old boyfriend could not be substantiated. The deputy counseled the woman initially to comply with her probation requirements during a second contact. The woman was taken into custody after deputies contacted her a third time and observed a bottle of vodka on the floor that she attempted to take a drink from in their presence. In the patrol vehicle, the woman reportedly spat and hit her head on the cage. She also reportedly threatened to kill her boyfriend and another individual.
Crash, Nov. 21, Warlow Drive, GPD
A 36-year-old woman was cited for permitting an unlicensed driver to operate her 2001 Chevrolet after her son, 15, crashed into a 25-year-old man’s 2023 Chevrolet around 3:57 p.m. at Warlow Drive and Moose Street, Wasson said. The boy was attempting to make a turn and didn’t see the other vehicle. The crash resulted in over $1,000 in damage. He was cited for driving without a license, improper lookout and failing to provide proof of insurance.
Crash, Nov. 21, Highway 59, GPD
Three people were transported to the hospital following a two-vehicle collision at Highway 59 and Sinclair Street around 5:03 p.m., Wasson said. A 30-year-old woman was southbound on Highway 59 in a 2016 Volkswagen and failed to see a 22-year-old woman in a blue Ford stop in front of her. The 30-year-old woman was cited for following too closely. She and her two passengers were transported by Emergency Medical Services.
MIC, Nov. 21, Highway 14-16, GPD
Officers cited a 19-year-old woman for consuming alcohol while under the age of 21 after contacting her outside of a bar on Highway 14-16 around 10:57 p.m., Wasson said. The woman was seen using a vaping device and admitted to consuming alcohol. She was also cited for using tobacco while under the age of 21 and was released to a friend.
Theft, Nov. 22, Independence Drive, GPD
A 41-year-old man on Independence Drive called the police around 4:27 a.m. after allegedly catching someone entering a 20-year-old woman’s 2005 Subaru, Wasson said. Officers contacted an 18-year-old man in the area matching the suspect’s description, but they didn’t find any items on him reportedly stolen from the Subaru. It is believed the man could have ditched a backpack with the items somewhere in the neighborhood. The man was also trespassed from a residence on Constitution Drive after a juvenile allowed him into a 44-year-old man’s residence without permission. The investigation is ongoing.
