GILLETTE, Wyo. — The Campbell County School District will hold its 12th annual Jingle Bell Run Dec. 2 to support families needing services from the Gillette Abuse Refuge Foundation.
GARF is a nonprofit that helps Campbell County people affected by domestic violence or sexual assault and strives to reduce the elements that foster violence through community collaboration and education, its mission statement says.
The event features a three-quarter-mile Kids Fun Run at 8:15 a.m. and a 2.9-mile course for walkers and runners, according to a flier. Walkers will start the 2.9-mile course at 8:30 a.m., and runners begin at 9 a.m. Participants are invited to wear their favorite ugly sweater.
The race begins at the Campbell County Recreation Center, 250 Shoshone Ave., Gillette.
Registration is held at all school buildings until Dec. 1. The cost is $18 for adults who want an event shirt and $12 without a shirt. The fee is $15 for children with a youth-sized shirt, and $10 without the shirt.
Race-day registration will occur from 8 to 8:45 a.m. That cost is $23 for adults and $18 per child. It will be held in the lobby of the recreation center’s fieldhouse.
There will also be a silent auction before and after the race. Winners will be announced at 9:45 a.m.
There are gift card prizes for race winners and the “best dressed” participant. There will also be raffle prize drawings.
Anyone who would like to donate a basket or door prize can call Laurie Christenson at 307-687-4516.
