GILLETTE, Wyo. — The Lewallen family of Gillette is asking that the community help with travel expenses as their 2-year-old daughter needs medical care in a burn unit in Colorado.

They have set up a GoFundMe here, asking for $3,000.

On Nov. 15, their youngest daughter, “E,” suffered severe burns on her body, the GoFundMe post said. She was rushed to the hospital and then life-flighted to Children’s Hospital Colorado on Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora to receive care in the burn unit.

“She is currently heavily sedated and will soon be an inpatient in the burn unit there,” the post said.

Only one member of the immediate family was allowed to fly with E, which left the rest of her family to drive to Denver/Aurora. The Lewallen Family is asking for help with gas, food and accommodation for their stay.

“The family is not sure how long E will need to stay in the hospital, and are very worried about money at this time,” the post said.

Ryan Lewallen is County 17’s community editor.
