GILLETTE, Wyo. — St. Matthew’s Catholic Church needs hundreds more items for Thanksgiving baskets that it will give to community members in need.

Here’s what is still needed, according to Outreach Director Nancy Anderson:

  • 70 turkeys
  • 74 five-pound bags of potatoes
  • 400 cans of cream of mushroom soup
  • 300 whipped toppings (e.g., Cool Whip)
  • $10 gift cards for local grocery stores
  • 50 pounds of butter

Anyone who can donate the supplies is asked to bring them to the parish office, located at 900 Butler-Spaeth Road, Gillette, between business hours, or, ideally, to bring them in the morning of Nov. 19, Anderson said. The church has freezers to store the items.

The baskets are given on a first-come, first-served basis to the general public, with photo ID, who come from 1 to 3 p.m. Nov. 19. They are also given to Campbell County School District families who sign up for the baskets through counselors. The church is able to give out 400 baskets, so it checks that the families are on the list.
