GILLETTE, Wyo. — Four of the 19 charitable organizations in northeast Wyoming that will benefit from the Powder River Energy Foundation’s holiday giving are in Campbell County.
The foundation gave $20,000 total to organizations in five counties of the state for its annual holiday giving program, according to a Nov. 15 news release.
Executive Director Joe Roth said the foundation wants to demonstrate its commitment to nonprofit charitable organizations in northeast Wyoming through helping improve communities’ quality of life and services.
“People in our communities are experiencing a variety of socioeconomic challenges,” Roth said. “The charities that bring relief are also stretched. Our Foundation Board enthusiastically offers its support this Holiday season.”
The grants will support charities’ holiday season work that benefits families.
Here are the recipients, organized by county:
- Campbell County: The Mercantile at Rawhide Elementary, Campbell County Council of Community Services, Campbell County Senior Center home-delivered meals and Gillette Salvation Army, which are the same organizations that received support in 2022, according to another news release.
- Crook County: Moorcroft Interfaith Community, Hulett Holiday Baskets and Crook County Council of County Services/Sundance Food Pantry
- Johnson County: Johnson County Friends Feeding Friends, Kaycee Food Pantry, Bread of Life Food Pantry in Buffalo and Compass Center for Families’s Parent Liaison Program
- Sheridan County: The Food Group, The Hub on Smith Holiday Giving, Sheridan Police Department’s Cops for Kids and Sheridan Foster Parent Exchange
- Weston County: Newcastle Ministerial Association holiday giving, Helping Hands Foundation of Weston County, B.R.E.A.D. food pantry and Weston County Peace Officers’ Shop with a Cop
Fundraisers, members’ donations of capital credits, matching grants and PRECorp’s Operation RoundUp program collected the funding. Through Operation RoundUp, participating co-op members can “round up” their monthly bill to the next dollar, resulting in an average donation of 50 cents a month. All Operation RoundUp program funds go to the organizations. All administrative overhead for the foundation is donated through PRECorp.

Fundraising events next year include the June 1 Durham Ranch 5K/10K walk-run; the WyoGives Day of Giving on July 10; and a Sept. 9 Golf Scramble at the Golf Club at Devils Tower.
The foundation’s Board of Directors, which represents each of the five counties, reviews charitable donation applications monthly.
