CASPER, Wyo. — The Wyoming Cowboy Hall of Fame is accepting nominations for Class of 2024 inductees through Feb. 15.
Cowboy work is the primary criteria. For a nomination form, send an email to wchfassistant@gmail.com or send a self-addressed, stamped envelope to WCHF, P.O. Box 404, Saratoga, WY 82331.
The Wyoming Cowboy Hall of Fame will honor inductees for 2024 during a weekend of Cowboy Legacy Oct. 11–12, 2024, in Casper.
All nominations must include biographical information and photographs of each nominee, according to a Wyoming Cowboy Hall of Fame press release.
The online WCHF recognizes individuals who have spent at least 45 years working for a livelihood in the saddle. The part of the nominee’s work should have involved riding horseback and working livestock. The minimum age for a living inductee is 65, although special circumstances may be considered. Inductees may be honored posthumously.
Cowboy means cowgirl, too. Nominees do not have to be Wyoming born, but all must have had primary residence in Wyoming and spent most of their time as a working cowboy in Wyoming. Ownership of a ranch or land is not required, but nominees could have spent their working time as a ranch hand.
Families and couples may be nominated together, but each person must meet all requirements.
Nominations are considered by county committees and verified by the Wyoming Cowboy Hall of Fame Board. Final decisions are made in late spring and announced in early June.
Purposes of the Wyoming Cowboy Hall of Fame are exclusively historical, cultural, literary and educational.
“To preserve, promote, perpetuate, publish and document Wyoming’s working cowboy and ranching history through researching, profiling and honoring individuals who broke the first trails and introduced that culture to this state,” WCHF’s chief goal states.
