The Campbell County Chamber of Commerce recognized several community members at its Nov. 4 awards banquet in CAM-PLEX's Energy Hall Ballroom.

GILLETTE, Wyo. — The Campbell County Chamber of Commerce recognized several community members at its Nov. 4 awards banquet in CAM-PLEX’s Energy Hall Ballroom.

Chamber members nominated businesses and individuals for a slew of awards, and 2022 award winners presented most of the awards.

  • Trends Furniture received this year’s Award of Excellence: Small Business. BKS Environmental Associates, ERA Priority, Real Estate and Powder River Surgery Center were runners-up.

  • The Award of Excellence: Large Business went to Powder River Dental. The runners-up were Basin Electric Power Cooperative and Dry Fork Station; Collins Communications; Healing Hearts Home Health and Navajo Transitional Energy Company.

  • The Chamber recognized Gillette Optometric Clinic, Lubnau Law and First National Bank with awards for their legacy.

  • Micky Shober received a standing ovation as he received the Jerry Boles Lifetime Achievement Award. His son Mike presented the award.

  • The Northeast Wyoming Contractors Association, or NEWCA, Project of the Year award went to Van Ewing Construction. Van Ewing Construction said in a Facebook post today that Dave Langley was the project superintendent for the Hoskinson Health & Wellness Project, which the award recognized. Powder River Construction, G & G Landscaping, Powder River Heating & Air Conditioning and DRM were recognized as runners-up. NEWCA is a chamber committee that advocates for local contractors and annually nominates five projects it believes showcase quality workmanship, according to a chamber Facebook post. NEWCA members vote on the projects.

  • Rocky Mountain Discount Sports received the Business Excellence in Customer Service award. Big Horn Dental Clinic, Pinnacle Bank and Campbell County Rockpile Museum were runners-up.

  • Lance Walker, with Powder River Construction, received the Sherry McGrath Spirit of Gillette award. Lorna Slattery with Bursch World Wide Travel, Nachelle McGrath with NE Wyoming Community Health Foundation, Olin Oedekoven with Peregrine Global Services Corp. and P.J. Burns with Wyoming SBDC Network also received recognition.

  • The Kelly Swenson Business Person of the Year for 2023 is Dee McClure, who owns Ice Cream Cafe. Don McKillop with DRM, Toni Bell with A.B.C. CPA PC, Ron Rye with Wyoming Beverage Pepsi–7-Up of Gillette and Joe Maycock with Gillette Optometric Clinic PC also received a significant number of nominations.

Erik Bergquist was the emcee at the event, which had a “Fire and Ice” theme.
