GILLETTE, Wyo. — The Ice Cream Cafe, which makes all of its ice cream in Gillette, won an award at a national convention and trade show held Nov. 2–4 in Las Vegas, one of the owners said today.

Andrea Strand, who owns the store with her parents, Dee and Lee McClure, said Nov. 6 that they entered their vanilla ice cream this year into the North American Ice Cream Association’s Ice Cream Clinic. The ice cream went through clinical lab testing and palate testing to earn the reward of ranking top in the Western region.

Strand said the family loves experimenting with new ideas and recipes. As they learned a lot at the convention, they will make new flavors in 2024. The store offers more than 20 homemade flavors, plus seasonal flavors.
