Local theatre group performing ‘The Haunting of Hill House’

(Cam-Plex)

GILLETTE, Wyo. — The Gillette Community Theater is currently putting on a stage adaptation of “The Haunting of Hill House” at the CAM-PLEX.

The play — directed by Lindee Strandgard and Johnathan Borrego — is based on the horror novel by Shirley Jackson and adapted for the stage by F. Andrew Leslie.

The story revolves around Dr. Montague, a supernatural phenomena investigator, who is granted a short lease for Hill House, a residence cut off from the outside world by its remote location and shunned by any who know its forbidding and sinister reputation, GCT says.

Montague, accompanied by several companions, seeks to delve into the house’s morbid history and come to grips with the occult forces that inhabit it. As their efforts to unravel the mysteries of Hill House ramp up, a crisis develops in which the evil forces of Hill House are goaded to a new and fatal fury, per GCT.

Jude Dodd, a voting member of the GCT Board, said the opening night was Oct. 27 and that performances will take place at 7 p.m. on Oct. 28 and Oct. 29. Ticket prices are $20 per adult and $18 for seniors and military.
