GILLETTE, Wyo. — Next month, residents and business owners will be encouraged to display a green light in their windows in support of veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces.
Operation Green Light for Veterans Week will take place across Campbell County from Nov. 6 to Nov. 12 following proclamations by the Gillette City Council and Campbell County Commissioners this week.
“Approximately 250,000 people transition from the armed forces into our community annually,” said Lindsy Turgeon with the Campbell County CARE Board. “These courageous individuals alongside their families confront difficulties in returning to civilian life. It is our duty to guarantee they do not have to confront these challenges in isolation.”
Operation Green Light refers to an effort to display a green light in a window of residences and businesses. Turgeon said that this small action carries a potent message of solidarity and endorsement for veterans and that a limited supply of green lights will be available in the Commissioner’s Office at the Campbell County courthouse.
“Together, let’s ensure that the legacy of service to our veterans and our family and let us light the way for those who have selflessly served our nation,” Turgeon said.
