GILLETTE, Wyo. — The Campbell County Public Library was one of several organizations and artists statewide to recently receive a Creative Aging Project Grant from the Wyoming Arts Council.

The grants, totaling $125,000, were awarded to Wyoming-based teaching artists and arts and cultural organizations in order to develop and implement multiple eight-week Creative Aging programs through August 2024 largely with funding from the Wyoming Department of Health, Aging Division, per WAC. The programs are designed to provide arts education and social engagement opportunities for Wyoming’s older residents.

In addition to the local library, grants were awarded to others in Laramie, Park, Natrona, Albany, Johnson, Sheridan and Fremont counties, WAC says. The grantees are developing programs in a variety of artistic mediums from dance and woodworking to theater and gilding.

“The Wyoming Arts Council is grateful to the Wyoming Department of Health, Aging Division for providing funding that allows us to continue our work in the Creative Aging field,” said WAC Executive Director Rachel Clifton. “These artists and organizations are providing crucial arts learning programs across the state and we are thrilled to be able to provide these opportunities for Wyoming’s older adults.”
