GILLETTE, Wyo. — Campbell County Public Library will feature Wyoming authors in four upcoming events.
Tonight, Shirley Muñoz Newson will speak at 6 about her book, “The Little Dark One: A True Story of Switched at Birth,” which describes her own experience. The event will take place in the Wyoming Room. A post on her Facebook page said that all who attend the event will have a chance to win a signed hardcover copy of her book.
Wyoming author Rodger McDaniel will make an appearance in an event at 2 p.m. Nov. 5 that the library is co-hosting with the Campbell County Historical Society. McDaniel wrote “Profiles in Courage: Standing Against the Wyoming Wind,” in which he discusses politicians and activists he believes are courageous.
The library will have a meet and greet with author and former sheriff’s deputy C. M. Wendelboe at 2 p.m. Nov. 19. Wendelboe’s latest books include “Death Under the Deluge,” the sixth book of the Spirit Road Mystery series, which features FBI Special Agent Manny Tanno.
Campbell County locals will have a chance to meet Craig Johnson, author of the Walt Longmire mystery series, at 5 p.m. Dec. 17 at the library.
Adult Program Coordinator Genevieve Schlekeway said Johnson has been visiting the library since shortly after his first book, “The Cold Dish,” came out in 2004. That book was featured in the library’s first “One Book, One Community” event, which was in 2007. “The Dark Horse” was the subject of a 2012 “One Book, One Community” event, which was part of the endowment fundraiser for The Library Foundation. The Library Foundation supplements taxpayer funding for the Wright Branch Library and the library in Gillette.
Schlekeway said Johson has been very generous with Wyoming libraries. He only charges a six-pack of Rainier beer, which is the favorite of Walt Longmire, the book series’ main character.
Other upcoming events at the library — located at 2101 S. 4-J Road, Gillette — can be viewed on the calendar below. The calendar is also available on the library’s website, here.
