GILLETTE, Wyo. — Staff from Campbell County School District’s Rozet Elementary worked with McDonald’s tonight for a fundraiser to aid the school.

Rozet’s principal, Travis Heitmann, said the school and the restaurant — located at 806 Camel Drive, Gillette — will determine in a couple of weeks what proceeds the school will receive, and a restaurant representative will come to the school and present a donation. The event is also a nice opportunity for the school community to come together outside of school.

“It’s really cool McDonald’s does this,” he said.

Heitmann said the fundraiser leaders plan to apply funding toward teachers’ purchases for classrooms and school projects. One of the top projects the school is considering is buying a costume for its mascot, as the children would really like to have one. Rozet Elementary’s mascot is a mustang horse.

“We’re really, really close and this should help us reach that goal,” he said.

Teachers will also receive some money through their classroom accounts, which they use to order items for their students so they do not have to use their personal money, he said. For example, new teachers might like organizers or books that they want to do studies on. The school has also considered buying some art supplies to make sure children have everything that they need.
