GILLETTE, Wyo. — A Campbell County author will soon release a book on a date that some may find very appropriate.

Terrell Gray, who has lived in Rozet for almost 15 years, said he decided to compile many of his horror and science fiction stories into a speculative fiction anthology, “The Dark Routes.” The book comes out Oct. 13. This year, that date falls on a Friday.

“All the stories share the theme of a journey, whether it be a physical one or an inner journey of change to the characters,” he said.

Gray, who writes under the pen name T. Thornton Gray, said that since a young age, he has been drawn to dark fiction.

“It has always been a way to deal with and try to come to grips with the evils of this world and its systems while still clinging to the promise of hope,” he said. “I hope that readers will be entertained as well as have something to ponder.”

Gray’s previous works include “Bilbo the Clown Fights Evil” and a screenplay, “Scarecrow,” which Red Rocks Community College produced, according to his website. He is a member of the Wyoming Writers nonprofit group that supports writers of various levels of expertise.

Gray said he encourages newer writers to write about what they love and want to express.

“Don’t worry about grammar, spelling or structure,” he said. “That can be fixed later.”

Gray will have a meet and greet at 1 p.m. Oct. 28 at Simply Books, 2701 Powder Basin Ave., Unit B, Gillette.

“Come and chat about the things that go bump in the night and all things weird,” an event flier said.
