GILLETTE, Wyo. — Residents will have the opportunity to provide input, feedback and ideas for the future of Gillette in October during two community engagement events, according to the City of Gillette.
The engagement events are part of the city’s efforts to develop a Comprehensive Plan to communicate the fiscal impacts of development decisions and develop a community-wide effort to develop responsibly, per the city.
One event will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 2 at the Campbell County Recreation Center, 250 Shoshone Ave. The other event is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. to 1:40 p.m. Oct. 3 at the George Amos Memorial Building, 412 S. Gillette Ave., the city says.
The process to develop the plan began earlier this year with the city putting out requests for qualifications to recruit consultant teams with experience in planning and developing, ultimately settling on Verdunity — a Texas planning and engineering firm — to oversee the process.
Earlier this week, the Gillette City Council approved forming a special committee that, when formed, will be tasked with providing input to city leaders and Verdunity while the Comprehensive Plan is developed.
According to City Attorney Sean Brown, the committee will consist of 11 members who reside within city limits. The committee will not have any binding authority and is to be dissolved when the Comprehensive Plan is dissolved.
Per the city, the process of developing the Comprehensive Plan could be concluded by April 2025.
