GILLETTE, Wyo. — Fire restrictions are ending in Campbell County on all lands administered by the Bureau of Land Management, the agency announced Friday.
Stage 1 fire restrictions have been in place on BLM lands in Campbell County since earlier this year, when the bureau outlawed many acts pertaining to open fires and industrial operations, citing dry conditions and high fire danger.
The restrictions prohibited building or maintaining a fire outside agency-provided fire grates; smoking outside a vehicle or enclosed building or areas cleared of ignitable materials; using a chainsaw without a properly installed spark arrester; and using welders or acetylene torches in areas not cleared of debris.
But while these restrictions are lifting, certain year-round restrictions remain in place, according to the BLM. These restrictions outlaw the use of fireworks, incendiary or tracer ammunition, burning hazardous or explosive material, operating an off-road vehicle without a properly equipped spark arrestor and using explosives.
