GILLETTE, Wyo. — The Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation will reveal a new web page next month to enhance the public’s ability to view missing person information, the agency announced Sept. 26.
The web page will be revealed on Oct. 2 and will facilitate public sharing of missing person records upon database entry while enabling filter capabilities and providing a missing person flyer page, per DCI.
Once live, the web page will allow the public to immediately view missing person data including a person’s age and how many days they have been missing, DCI says. It will also allow users to filter data to find information more pertinent to their inquiry as well as download and print a missing person bulletin.
The new web page is in addition to the initial page launched by DCI in 2021. By law, DCI acts as a central repository of information and operates a clearinghouse database on missing persons from Wyoming, the division says.
Most often, it falls to local law enforcement agencies to do the “boots-on-the-ground” work to locate missing persons in Wyoming while DCI consolidates the state’s missing persons into one database, per the division.
With the new web page, DCI has taken the internal database required by law and made the information publicly available, engaging all Wyoming citizens in the efforts to swiftly locate the missing, according to the division.
As of Sept. 23, there are 86 people who are currently missing in the state, DCI says, expressing thanks to Wyoming residents for their outpouring of concern, support and assistance in locating missing residents.
