GILLETTE, Wyo. — On Thursday, Gillette Police located and arrested a man who fled after accusations that he was exposing himself to patrons of local businesses, Deputy Chief Brent Wasson said.

Officers were dispatched to investigate the accusations reported by a 28-year-old woman at Walmart who said the man, 32, exposed his genitals next to her while she was shopping at Walmart around 2 p.m. on Sept. 21, Wasson said.

The man was located at Hobby Lobby after officers responded to investigate a similar report; he fled from police, entered a Dodge Ram attached to a trailer and fled south through the Powder Basin Shopping Center parking lot, where officers lost sight of him, per Wasson.

While the man fled, he reportedly drove over landscaping, causing $200 in damage, Wasson said, adding that officers received information minutes later indicating the man was behind Bloedorn Lumber on East Lakeway Road.

When officers arrived, the man attempted to escape by fleeing on foot but was ultimately apprehended, according to Wasson.

According to arrest records from the Campbell County Detention Center, the man was charged with indecent exposure, two counts of interference, reckless driving, hit and run and driving while under the influence of drugs.

Wasson said on Sept. 22 that another indecent exposure charge could be pending depending on the results of the ongoing investigation.
