GILLETTE, Wyo. — CAM-PLEX will hold a major community meeting Oct. 10 to discuss the final rollout of the facility’s master plan.

Executive Director Aaron Lyles said today that he anticipates the meeting will be at 6 p.m., but he is waiting for confirmation.

Campbell County Public Land Board Chair Chuck Land said that Oct. 10 is a final rollout of the plan, which he said is massive and will be costly. It would make the CAM-PLEX the premier event center in the region.

CAM-PLEX may ask for a tax increase to fund expansion and improvement that would support serving customers like the National High School Rodeo Association. At its Aug. 10 meeting, the Campbell County Public Land Board unanimously approved accepting a letter of intent from the association that if, by January 2025, the community funds improvements that meet its needs, it will make a 10-year commitment to holding its event annually at CAM-PLEX.

More than 400 Campbell County community members took a survey earlier this year regarding their perspective on the facility, located at 1635 Reata Drive, Gillette.

CSL International Director Joel Feldman said at the March 31 master planning public forum that the team is studying what the CAM-PLEX and the surrounding area offer, the history of CAM-PLEX operations, how CAM-PLEX competes with similar facilities and industry trends. They’ve inventoried what facilities in the region have to offer. The team seeks to make recommendations that are economically and financially sustainable and savvy. They want the proposals to help the community, support growth and attract organizations that will have a long-term relationship with the facility and the county.
