GILLETTE, Wyo. — A fundraiser has been set up benefiting the family of 12-year-old Elthon Caballero, who died Sept. 11 in a single-vehicle rollover on Adon Road.
The account says it’s to pay for funeral, medical and transportation costs. As of Sept. 16, it has raised approximately $1,755 of its $12,000 goal.
The GoFundMe is the second account to be set up on behalf of the family following Caballero’s death. Earlier this week, an organization that asked not to be identified citing confidentiality concerns announced it had set up a local bank account where donations are being accepted to aid the family.
Caballero was ejected from a 2008 Toyota traveling on Adon Road around 11:11 p.m. on Sept. 11 after the driver — a 17-year-old boy — lost control while trying to get a moth out of the vehicle, according to Campbell County Undersheriff Quentin Reynolds.
The vehicle left the roadway and entered the ditch; it overturned and rolled twice after the 17-year-old regained the roadway, Reynolds said.
Emergency personnel were notified of the incident through Apple Crash Detection and arrived to find Caballero unresponsive. He was transported for medical care and was later pronounced deceased, per Reynolds.
