GILLETTE, Wyo. — Here is a summary of notable crimes that occurred in and around Gillette yesterday, obtained through law enforcement reports compiled by the Gillette Police Department and the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office.
Theft, Sept. 13, Mohan Road, GPD
Officers responded to Mohan Road after a 48-year-old man called to report three service trucks had been entered without permission and $1,800 in tools were missing around 6:12 a.m., Deputy Police Chief Brent Wasson said. The suspect reportedly entered the vehicle between 6 p.m. on Sept. 12 and 4:30 a.m. on Sept. 13. The tools — consisting of assorted hand tools and a grinder — were taken from only one of the service vehicles.
Crash, Sept. 13, Westover Road, GPD
A 29-year-old man was cited for following too closely after reportedly causing a three-car collision at the intersection of Westover Road and 4-J Road around 7:53 a.m., Wasson said. The man crashed his vehicle into the back of a 29-year-old man’s Ford, which was pushed into the rear of a 57-year-old man’s Ford. The damages were estimated to be over $1,000 and there were no injuries reported. The initial 29-year-old man was also cited for driving under suspension and driving with expired registration.
Fraud, Sept. 13, Stone Trail Avenue, CCSO
A 39-year-old man called the sheriff’s office at 7:59 a.m. to report suspected credit card fraud, Undersheriff Quentin Reynolds said. The man said an unknown individual used his credit card to charge $434.94 at Knotts Berry Farm in California. The investigation is ongoing.
Pornography, Sept. 13, South Emerson Avenue, GPD
Officers cited a 33-year-old for disseminating intimate images of a 29-year-old woman on social media around 12:08 p.m., Wasson said. The woman called the police to report the images, which she took a screenshot of, though the images had already been removed by the time the incident was reported.
Drugs, Sept. 13, Cliff Davis Drive, GPD
A man was charged with possession of a controlled substance after he was found with 80 grams of marijuana and 13 grams of THC wax around 12:10 p.m., Wasson said. The man was reported by residents who saw him smoking a pipe in his vehicle on Cliff Davis Drive. When officers arrived, the man admitted to having marijuana and showed officers multiple baggies on his passenger seat. He was cited and released.
Battery, Sept. 13, Helena Avenue, GPD
Officers responded to Helena Avenue at 10:18 p.m. to investigate a battery report involving a 49-year-old man and an 18-year-old man, Wasson said. The two got into a physical altercation over the 18-year-old dating the 49-year-old’s daughter. The older man assaulted the younger man after the 18-year-old made multiple obscene gestures towards him. Officers cited the 49-year-old man for battery and the 18-year-old for breach of peace, and the 18-year-old was trespassed from the older man’s property.
