GILLETTE, Wyo. — A brief episode of rain and cooler temperatures is expected tonight and Thursday, but Gillette will otherwise see sunny skies and warm days.

Today’s forecast from the National Weather Service in Rapid City, South Dakota, calls for a high near 80 under sunny skies. An upper low from the Pacific northwest is expected to cross the area later this afternoon and evening, bringing with it some moisture that could result in rain showers. Rain chances will increase from 30% to 60% overnight as the low falls to around 50.

There’s a 20% chance for showers to continue Thursday morning before clearing and leaving a mostly sunny day with a high near 67. Overnight, skies will be mostly clear with a low near 46.

Drier air will settle in behind the cool front, leaving days of sunny skies and warming temperatures. Friday will see a high of 70, Saturday a high of 77 and Sunday a high of 80. Overnight lows each night will be in the mid-40s.
