Campbell County library board members meet Aug. 8. (Mary Stroka/County 17)

GILLETTE, Wyo. — The Campbell County Public Library Board will have first interviews for candidates for leadership of the library at a special meeting Sept. 12, Chair Charles Butler said this afternoon.

Butler said the board will not take action at the meeting, which will take place at 12:30 p.m. in the Ponderosa Room of the George Amos Memorial Building, 412 S. Gillette Ave., Gillette.

He said he believes the board started with seven candidates for the executive director position and then there was an eighth. The board will interview four or five, unless more candidates apply. The other candidates were eliminated because they didn’t meet the qualifications.

Here’s the job description:

The board fired Terri Lesley July 28 and Campbell County Human Resources Director Brandy Elder became the library’s interim director Aug. 8 after the board unanimously voted in her favor. No policies will change until the new executive director comes aboard.

Under Wyoming law, public boards can meet in closed session for personnel matters.

The next meeting will take place at 4:30 p.m. Sept. 25 in the Wyoming Room of the Campbell County Public Library, 2101 S. 4-J Road, Gillette.
