GILLETTE, Wyo. — In an open house Sept. 5, Wyoming Regional EMS celebrated its first year of contracted service to Sheridan, Campbell County Health announced today.
Roughly one year ago, WREMS, which is a collaboration of Campbell County Health and Sheridan Memorial Hospital, was awarded the contract to provide EMS services to the city and county of Sheridan, according to a Campbell County Health news release.
“WREMS, managed by CCH-EMS, has quickly become an indispensable part of the regional healthcare landscape, and their dedication to serving the community is evident in their outstanding performance over the past year,” the release said.
From January through August, WREMS has responded to 2,622 calls, which have included 24 strokes, nine STEMIs and 35 cardiac arrests. The team, which is committed to reaching every corner of Sheridan County, has covered nearly 30,000 miles during its calls. The team handles 911 calls and interfacility transports.
“Wyoming Regional EMS has truly excelled in its mission to provide high-quality, timely emergency medical services to the residents of Sheridan County,” Campbell County Health Director of Urgent and Emergent Services Chris Beltz said. “This one-year anniversary and open house are significant milestones, and we are proud of the dedication and expertise demonstrated by our team. We are grateful to the communities we serve for their trust and support.”
At the open house, Campbell County and Sheridan County stakeholders gathered to celebrate the success of WREMS and thank first responders. Gov. Mark Gordon spoke about the importance of EMS services and indicated his support for regionalization efforts.
“Campbell County Health and Sheridan Memorial Hospital lead the way in regional partnerships enhancing care for Wyomingites,” the release said. “WREMS’s first year has been impressive, and their continued dedication is sure to benefit the residents of Sheridan County for years to come.”
