The National Weather Service in Rapid City, South Dakota, is forecasting an 85-degree Friday with sunny skies. Winds will come from the south at 11–18 mph but will turn to come from the north this afternoon. Gusts could reach 28 mph. Clouds will roll in this evening and remain overnight as the low falls to around 53.
Much cooler air will be pulled into the region Saturday thanks to a cold front. That will not only lower temperatures, but also will bring increasing storm chances for Gillette. Expect a high of 72 Saturday under mostly sunny skies before a 30% chance for afternoon thunderstorms. Showers remain likely — a 70% chance — overnight as the low falls to around 51.
Sunday will start with a 50% chance for thunderstorms, rising to a 60% chance of continued showers. The forecast high will be 62 degrees. Storm chances fall off some for the evening, down to 40%, as the low drops to 47.
Monday will see temperatures rebound slightly for a high of 66. There’s a 20% chance of storm chances throughout the day. Overnight, the low will fall to around 46.
