Sunny skies expected today before wet start to coming week

GILLETTE, Wyo. — Gillette-area residents will be able to enjoy some sunny Sunday weather, though rain is expected to come in the evening and stay for the first few days of the coming week.

Today, Gillette will see a high near 90 degrees under a bright, clear sky. Wind blowing in from the west at 6–13 mph will shift to the south in the afternoon. The area could experience gusts as strong as 18 mph.

At night, the area will see a 20% chance of scattered showers, with temperatures dropping to a low of 58 after sundown.

Tonight’s 20% chance of rain will grow to a 50% likelihood by Monday early afternoon, the National Weather Service in Rapid City, South Dakota, reports.

Monday’s conditions are expected to reach a high near 79, with wind gusts of up to 23 mph possible.

Rain will only get more likely later in the day, with an 80% chance of scattered rain and storms expected in the evening as temperatures fall to a low of 48. Wind gusts stronger than 30 mph will be possible Monday night as well.

Tuesday will begin rainy with a 30% chance of showers before noon, though the skies will gradually clear up throughout the day, according to the NWS in Rapid City.
