GILLETTE, Wyo. — Trends Furniture has sponsored 27 wreaths to honor Campbell County veterans this year, Campbell County wreaths coordinator and Civil Air Patrol Maj. Toni Brown said this afternoon.

The store on Aug. 28 donated $450 for the wreaths through its “Make A Difference Days” project, Brown said. Each month, the store chooses a community group to support.

Trends Furniture donates a portion of all sales made during Make a Difference Days, Rebekah Bane said.

“We do what we can to support these great causes in our community,” she said.

Brittany Brunkow, a Trends Furniture sales and marketing representative, said store owners Dan and Rebekah Bane began the tradition. Together, staff choose organizations in town to donate to. Wreaths Across America received the store’s support in July. Store staff want to provide affordable furniture but also give back to the community, since the community supports the store.

Wreaths Across America distributes wreaths in December to living and deceased veterans to honor their commitment to the U.S.

Brunkow said that she was impressed with the Civil Air Patrol cadets’ manners and their knowledge regarding World War II when she got the chance to meet them. The youngest one in the photo just joined the organization so he will soon receive his uniform.

“He was very excited,” she said.

Campbell County’s Powder River Composite Squadron WY069 placed fifth among 24 Wyoming sponsorship groups that participated in Wreaths Across America in 2022, Region 4 Liaison Team announced in April.

The squadron’s cadets meet Mondays at Gillette Armory, 811 E. Laramie St., Gillette. To learn more, click here.
