Drive to help homeless veterans coming to Gillette Aug. 28

GILLETTE, Wyo. — An effort to provide aid to homeless Wyoming veterans will come to Gillette on Aug. 28, according to the Campbell County Veteran’s Council.

The Department of Veteran Affairs will be conducting a statewide Mobile Veteran Stand-down over four days — Aug. 28–31 — during which the team will be on hand to provide medical, mental, dental and vision services as well as free items such as clothing, blankets and personal hygiene items, according to Denton Knapp, vice chairman of the Campbell County Veteran’s Council.

The team will be in Gillette on Aug. 28 at the Gillette VA Clinic, 604 Express Drive, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., Knapp said in an email to County 17.

During the effort, the team will travel to other locations along two routes — north and south — from Buffalo and Douglas to Riverton, Lander and Rock Springs, among other communities, according to Knapp.

Correction, Aug. 29, 2023: The VA provided an incorrect date of Aug. 29. The story has been updated with the correct date.
