LARAMIE, Wyo. — Wyoming linebacker Easton Gibbs and nose tackle Cole Godbout have attracted the attention of the Reese’s Senior Bowl as both were named to the 2024 Senior Bowl Watch List on Wednesday.

Gibbs, a junior with another year of eligibility remaining, has already indicated that the 2023 season will be his last in college. Godbout, who has already graduated from Wyoming with a B.S.B. in Management of Human Resources, is utilizing his final year of eligibility this season.

Both Cowboys have earned multiple preseason honors entering this season, including both being named to the Athlon Sports Preseason All-Conference First Team. Gibbs was also named the 2023 Preseason Mountain West Defensive Player of the Year in voting by conference media members. Gibbs was voted a team captain by his teammates and led the Pokes with 121 tackles in 2022. He ranked No. 3 in the Mountain West Conference and 22nd nationally in tackles last season, averaging 9.3 tackles per game. Gibbs’s 121 tackles tied him for the 18th best single-season tackle total in school history with former UW linebackers Bruce Mowry (1983) and Jim Talich (1997).

Godbout entered the 2022 season as a leading All-Conference candidate and the leader of the UW defensive line. He had earned Honorable Mention All-Mountain West honors in 2021 from Mountain West head coaches and media and was voted a 2022 team captain by his teammates. Godbout was outstanding in the first six games of the 2022 campaign, recording 32 tackles, 11 quarterback hurries, 4.5 tackles for loss and one pass breakup. He suffered a foot injury against San Jose State that forced him to miss the final six regular-season games before returning to start in the Arizona Bowl. He is poised for a big year in his final season for the Cowboys in 2023.

The 2024 Reese’s Senior Bowl is scheduled to be played Feb. 3, 2024, in Mobile, Alabama, on the campus of the University of South Alabama.

Players will be selected for the 2024 Reese’s Senior Bowl later in the 2023 season.
