GILLETTE, Wyo. — The Campbell County Fire Department responded to the following incidents on Sunday, Aug. 20:
- At 3:59 a.m. to North Landfill Road, the North Landfill, for a report of an unknown fire. Upon arrival, firefighters observed a large fire in the dump area. The fire was extinguished by CCFD and Campbell County Public Works Employees.
- At 8:26 a.m. to Rocky Point Drive for an emergency medical response.
- At 1:56 p.m. to Nogales Way for a citizen’s assist.
- At 2:15 p.m. to the area of Hilight Road south of Highway 450 for the report of a grass fire. The fire was contained at 1,370 acres and the cause is undetermined. Seventeen firefighters and two chiefs from Campbell County Fire Department responded to the call as well as firefighters from the United States Forest Service, Wyoming State Forestry and resources from Campbell County Road and Bridge.
- At 5:26 p.m. to Augusta Circle for an activated carbon monoxide alarm.
- At 8:32 p.m. to Reata Drive for an emergency medical response.
- At 9 p.m. to Highway 450 for an emergency medical response.
- At 9:46 p.m. to the 2000 block of Buckskin Drive for an activated fire alarm.
- At 10:17 p.m. to Brown Duck Drive for an emergency medical response.
Year to date, the Campbell County Fire Department has responded to 1,828 requests for service.
Correction, Aug. 25, 2023: The Campbell County Fire Department retracted its suspected cause of the fire in the area of Hilight Road. The item has been updated.
