Sunny start to weekend expected, NWS says

GILLETTE, Wyo. — Gillette-area residents should be able to enjoy a mostly sunny weekend, though there is a chance of rain Saturday night into early Sunday morning.

Today, the day is expected to start with clear and sunny skies, as temperatures reach a high of roughly 86 degrees. Light to moderate winds of 8–12 mph can be expected, according to the National Weather Service in Rapid City, South Dakota.

After nightfall, though, clouds will begin to roll in, and the NWS in Rapid City reports a 30% chance of rain starting around midnight. There is a 20% chance that the rain will persist into Sunday’s morning hours.

However, even if the rain does continue into Sunday morning, the NWS in Rapid City predicts skies to clear before noon.

Sunday is expected to be noticeably cooler than the day prior, as the high is only going to reach around 67 degrees. It will also be considerably windier, as gusts are likely to exceed 30 mph during the day.
