GILLETTE, Wyo. — Campbell County Commission Chairwoman Colleen Faber has called for a special meeting with the Gillette City Council next week to discuss a joint dispatch center.
According to the special meeting announcement disseminated on Aug. 4, the meeting will take place in the 2nd Floor Community Room at City Hall on Tuesday, Aug. 8 at 6 p.m., where both entities will discuss a possible agreement to combine the county and city dispatch centers into one.
Currently, Campbell County and the City of Gillette have their own respective dispatch centers, one in the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office and another at the Gillette Police Department.
Talk of combining the dispatch centers dates back years, with a previous commission voting down the prospect in 2016 after a previous City Council voted to approve it, according to reporting by the Gillette News Record.
