Gillette police investigating possible threat against public library

A Gillette police official declined to release identifying information for the suspect as well as specific information regarding the threat, citing an active investigation on Aug. 2.

GILLETTE, Wyo. — An investigation into a threat made against the Campbell County Public Library on social media is underway, according to the Gillette Police Department. 

The threat was reported at 2:31 p.m. Aug. 1 by a 71-year-old woman who reported seeing a social media post related to unrest during Library Board meetings, Gillette Police Capt. Jason Marcus said Aug. 2. 

Marcus, citing an active investigation, declined to release identifying information for the suspect and additional details regarding the threat, though he did say that police are investigating the post as a verbal threat. 

The suspect has not been contacted as of Aug. 2, which is why details regarding the threat are few and far between, according to Marcus, who added that information will continue to be limited until the suspect is contacted.
