GILLETTE, Wyo. — Nebraska native and former Division 1 coach Dr. William Egbert has joined Campbell County Health as a psychiatrist and adult medical director for Behavioral Health Services, the healthcare organization said Monday.
Harboring a long-standing fascination with medicine, Egbert returned to school to obtain his Doctor of Medicine at Ross University in the Caribbean after studying the Russian language and working as an assistant coach and then head coach for Division 1 Women’s Volleyball, per CCH.
“I fell in love with psychiatry; I found my calling,” Egbert told CCH. “It’s complex, challenging, but it’s also gratifying when you can support those in need.”
After completing his residency in New York City, Egbert was led to Gillette with his wife in their search for a smaller, tight-knit community that could provide a change from the hustle and bustle of city life, per CCH.
In Gillette, they fell in love with the warmth and charm of the community and the exceptional care provided by Campbell County Health, according to a July 31 release.
“[Egbert’s] expertise as a psychiatrist and medical director will enhance the quality of Behavioral Health Services at [CCH],” the healthcare organization said. “His deep understanding of the complexities and stigmas surrounding mental health issues will ensure that patients receive comprehensive, compassionate care tailored to their needs.”
Egbert and his wife intend to start a little ranch where he can surround himself with nature and enjoy the outdoors in northeast Wyoming, per CCH.
