It’s fair time in Campbell County, and we want to make sure you don’t miss out on great entertainment.
Tomorrow, Wednesday, Aug. 2, the fair begins its free stage entertainment at CAM-PLEX, with that entertainment continuing daily through Saturday.
Cowboy Bill Crowley will be back with free caricatures for fair attendees in the Wyoming Center from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Bill’s caricatures are family favorites with generations of Campbell County Fair attendees. If you can make it out on Wednesday or Thursday, you’re less likely to wait in line.
The Wyoming Center also hosts the Trade Show, which runs from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Action Entertainment’s NASCAR radio-controlled racing, putt-putt mini golf, Young Guns Entertainment’s Wild West Fun Park and Laser Fast Draw, and the World’s Funnest Photo Booth. While you’re there, be on the lookout for magician and comedian Jeff Martin, who will be strolling through the building.
Out on the Plaza, don’t miss Bear Hollow Wood Carving as their carvers take some Black Hills logs and carve them with chainsaws and equipment. Bear Hollow’s full-throttle art will produce several custom pieces which will be auctioned on Saturday afternoon. Bear Hollow performs daily at 10 a.m., 12:45 p.m., 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.
The fair is also pleased to bring back hypnotist Michael Mezmer for his daily magic, hypnosis and danger shows. Michael will be hosting a special show at the Campbell County Public Library on Wednesday at 1 p.m. Michael will also perform at the fair on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. and 6:15 p.m. From Thursday through Saturday, Michael will perform at 12:15 p.m. (Magic Show), 3:30 p.m. (Hypnosis Show) and 6:15 p.m. (Danger Show).
Forever Simon & Garfunkel will be under the Free Stage Tent each day at 1:15 p.m., 3 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Celebrating the bestselling duo in rock and roll history with humor, soaring energy, charm and laser-precise harmonies, Forever Simon & Garfunkel leads the audience on a journey from the group’s early success as a folk act to their global dominance as hit-makers.
The Doo-Wah Riders will take their place on the Free Stage at 11:30 a.m., 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. The Doo-Wahs are country with a unique, original sound. They define their sound as “high-energy country with a Cajun twist.” Showcasing ultra-tight musicianship and powerful arrangements of classic and original songs, The Doo-Wah Riders are great showmen and are enjoyed by audiences across the country as well as in Europe and beyond.
Also on the Plaza, enjoy the stunt jump and gyro extreme, sports zone, obstacle course and bouncers, petting zoo and paintless paintball course. And don’t forget, the All Aboard Train will be moving fairgoers around CAM-PLEX daily from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Need an adult date night?
New this year, the fair is excited for 307 Horse Racing Derby Night on Wednesday at 7 p.m. Tickets are available at the door and it only costs $10 for admission. Tickets include a 307-themed tour of drinks by Big Lost Meadery and Grinners, heavy hors d’oeuvres, Derby-themed games, stick horse racing and competitions like best Derby attire and best Derby hat.
Wanting some more fun? Casino games will be available to benefit the fair’s Youth Awards program. $10 gets you $100 of chips for the games.
Great food, great fun, great drinks, and casino games? Load up your friends on Wednesday at 7 p.m. and bring them to the Heritage Center Lobby. This event is 21+ only.
