Despite lifesaving attempts at Gillette intersection, Michigan man dies

Witnesses and emergency personnel performed CPR.

GILLETTE, Wyo. — A 78-year-old Michigan man died following an incident June 11 near Garner Lake Road and Interstate 90, despite lifesaving attempts from both witnesses and emergency personnel, officials said.

Campbell County Coroner Paul Wallem said at 10:09 a.m. June 12 that the man, identified as Leonard Puroll, was from Boyne Falls, Michigan. The man died from natural causes. It’s too early to have a more precise cause of death.

Deputy Police Chief Brent Wasson said this morning that officers responded at 10:51 a.m. June 11 to the intersection following a call requesting EMS after the man appeared to be having a medical emergency. Several witnesses removed the man from his vehicle and began CPR. Officers and EMTs continued the CPR.

The man was taken to Campbell County Health. Hospital staff pronounced him deceased at 11:26 a.m. June 11.
